Today you can read few thoughts of Justin Pena - the counselor of Cabin 4, after the hike of his Cabin to Mt. Hurricane.
This past Wednesday Cabin 4 hiked Mount Hurricane. It was known to be a difficult mountain for the first hike. However, the group thought that they were up to the challenge. And they most certainly were. Despite a rainy day, a late start, and the cabin accidentally taking the more difficult trail on the mountain, the kids were exceptional. The veterans did a great job of encouraging the rookies up the mountain. This was accompanied by an impromptu blues debut by Tony and Li Juan, which was quite entertaining. We also had the honor of being joined by Father Jack on this particular hike. Although the view at the top was covered by gray skies, it was definitely a great experience, in which the group worked together and overcame obstacles (literally and figuratively). This first hike went a long way in boosting the cabin’s confidence. Hopefully this will lead to us climbing other challenging mountains with better views for us to show you.

ReplyDeleteI get very anxious looking for new updates, and get a little frustrated when I don't see anything yet? I can't believe this is only the first week,it feels so long! It was great to see the kids w /father Jack who was on the hike ,God was with them all the way! would love to see pics of them by the pool? Hope all the Rookies are handling the new changes!Guys enjoy your week and keep safe and healthy.

ReplyDeleteWow i remember my cabin hiking Mt. Hurricane in my seventh grade year. i think it's so cool to have a website so that the parents are able to see u guys. u lucky 8th graders.....u guys got to see the fireworks! Not FAIR!!!!
