July 4th Celebrations!

Happy 4th of July! Here at Camp Monserrate we had a wonderful day of celebrating together. After the pool period in the afternoon, Fr. Jack said a special mass for all students who wanted to attend. We were happy to see many of the students choose to give up their free time and join us in the chapel. Following mass we enjoyed a picnic out in the grass with our cabin groups. Val had cooked up a feast of hamburgers, hotdogs, corn on the cob, chicken wings, chips and some soda! With patriotic music playing from the main hall, the campers and counselors enjoyed the evening outdoors.

Following the picnic, cabins went to their group discussions where they talked about setting goals for themselves this summer. Then, following a short group activity, we found a special surprise waiting for us before the movie. Sister Connie had baked rice krispy treats for all of us!

The 8th graders, as a thanks for all of their hard work so far at camp, were treated to a special outing into town to see the fireworks. It was a fantastic show over the lake complete with a bright and loud finale!

Back at camp, we could hear the explosions loud and clear as we went to the chapel to say our prayers before bed. Fortunately we were tired enough to fall asleep despite the occasional fireworks in the distance. The rest of the 4th of July pictures are in our photo album at the side of the page. Happy Independence Day!
